I and my husband were on the expedition on Ararat in August 2012 with Ararattrek company. It was brilliant, everything was well organised, both the action while climbing the peak and free time before and after the mountains. We met nice people, wonderful atmosphere, super guides, apart from that delicious food. We had a beautiful adventure and we are planning an expedition with Asia and Musa’s company to Iran on Damavand. We recommend them.

Five months have already passed since the day when we climbed Ararat. This fantastic adventure is a topic that regularly appears in our conversations at different occasions. Just because it was such an incredible experience, it gave us a boost and took us away from the routine. In addition, it was so wonderful as we all succeeded. All of the eleven women. The groups leaving before or after us, where “feminine element” was represented minimally or wasn’t represented at all, could seldom boast a similar success. Maybe because we got used to climbing together, because Anka Czerwińska, the queen of the mountains, was with us, because Janosik - like Kurdish mountaineers from ARARATTREK took care of us. (By the way – language monkeys, although there is nothing wrong with us. Apart from banal use of English, after a few days bigger parts of conversations were – to mutual delight- once in POLISH once in KURDISH. With a final shout ARKADASZ!, which means friendship, of course in phonetic transcription). There were other circumstances – as during this expedition a lot of things were in our favour. People of the mountains say that we will climb if THE MOUNTAIN WILL ACCEPT US. So we were treated in a very kindly way by the mountain. It discovered itself in front of us in the most important stage of the peak climbing and it thundered, cast snow, wailed with a gale only when we were going down and we already saw the upper camp below. The care of our Kurdish guides was also really important from the beginning of the expedition. While climbing the peak there were three of them for us eleven. Experts who know the mountain like the back of their hand, who are nimble like chamois and know the needs of townies thoroughly. In addition, a caravan of a dozen or so small, brave horses that carried up the mountain all our camp – tents, a cooker, luggage, food. As for food – 100% ecology – cheese, fruit, bread, meat, honey, preserves – everything regional, not even touched by “the hand of industrial production”. It was prepared by a charming cook and kitchen boys, served in the morning sun in the fresh air, and in the evening in the “social” tent when we were already high in the mountains. The whole service consisted of incredible a dozen or so people. I really recommend Ararattrek!

4 September 2012 – the beginning of our expedition and the realization of Women’s Ark project. Eleven women (nine from the Kilimanjaro Association and two from Centre for the Advancement of Women Foundation) decide to climb Ararat. From the beginning we did not have any doubts that the family company Ararattrek.pl was our best choice. A few meetings with Asia Saltik in Warsaw and everything was buttoned up. Asia’s husband – Musa - was waiting for us in Turkey at the airport in Van. The organization of the expedition and a few – day stay in eastern Turkey was perfect. We felt safe and we were attended to with loving care. It must be admitted that our group was a big challenge for them – 11 crazy women, aged 25 – 67, some of them more experienced ( Ania Czewińska),for others it was the first expedition in high mountains. Ararat had never experienced such a female siege before!!! Our brilliant humour, determination and wisdom as well as experience of our guides carried us up to the very top of the mountain. Kubi and Ali – thanks!!! P.S. We are planning a next expedition with Ararattrek, this time on Damavand.

If Ararat – only with Ararattrek. You can experience not only a mountain adventure, but also incredible Kurdish hospitability. I recommend it very much!
